One Middle Tennessee businesses made Inc. magazine's list of the country's 500 fastest-growing private companies.
Ranked at No. 335, Brentwood-based Simplex Healthcare, a diabetes products supplier, led the list of locals with revenue of $56.7 million, a 727 percent growth since 2005.
Fifty companies in the region made Inc.'s top 5,000 firms, including Emma, a marketing firm, at No. 510; Buffalo Lumber at No. 585; and health care consultants Community Ties of America at No. 673.
In a down economy, health care and consulting firms lead the way on this year's ranking.
